Exhibition Design

Three projects are showcased below:
· Meanings and Metaphors (a travelling exhibition that displays handspun and handwoven fabrics) By using a minimal and sustainable material palette of bamboo in supporting the exhibits, the sarees are highlighted in the display.

· USTAAD Workshop at National Institute of Design, India for Kashmiri papier mache craftsmen.

· Amaravati Design Festival - installation to uplift traditional handloom craftsmen of the region.

By using a minimal and sustainable material palette of bamboo in supporting the exhibits, the sarees are highlighted in the display. The sarees are arranged in gentle curves of two modules - Floor waves and suspended waves. Following the material palette each wave is custom-made for the saree that it displays.
The components were partially made with the artisans in Bangalore and then transported to the exhibition venue in Coimbatore to be asssembled there one week prior to the exhibition.

The second project develops the papier mache craft of Kashmir from a jewellery box scale to a furniture scale. A workshop was conducted at National Institute of Design by Mr. Sangaru for the craftsmen. We worked closely with the craftsmen to fabricate our design of a curved chair into a scaled prototype.

The final project is an installation designed for ‘Amaravati Design Festival’ in 2019. We worked closely with the saree weaving community in the region to help them tell their story. A floor-standing loom has been fabricated with teak wood and the warps of the loom extend towards the 6m high ceiling.
